Ugly People Have Talent.
In a recent state of insomnia driven boredom, I began fingering through YouTube. First I spent an hour watching young children flaunt a porny combination of flexibility, strength sexuality in a series of dance recital vids.. Not wanting to wait to finish, I minimized the screen, so I could peep the “More Like This” column. I watched one horrifying short about infants righting themselves in the water, half way through my uterus started to quiver so I quickly tapped on a pic of a large boy with wacky long hair and a kinda cute girl.
Brittian’s Got Talent is a show I don’t watch, have never watched and probably will never watch it again, but straight away, I noticed a pattern. A clear as day, let’s not stray pattern.
They push people on the stage from the voms as they stumble out, we notice how ugly, disgusting and more than likely talentless they are.. there’s a bit of chatter, to confirm all suspicion that after this show the ugly people, now left depleted of dreams and a chance at any happiness in their future, should be torn apart by dogs. Not just any dogs, bad dogs, also bereft of dreams.
They get the green light, the trolls in back give a thumbs up, there’s a close up of a finger pressing a play button and Simon gives an “shoot me in the fucking spotted dick” eyeroll.
Suddenly… We all lean forward, as the person who is best described by the passage at the foot of Lady Liberty, begins to change our minds.. our small, useless brains. How??! How can a sound so beautiful, a talent so profound be lurking in a body of such ill refute?????
What a concept. Dash all hope and then make ‘em believe… People chant “Rudy”, “Rocky” or “NerdsNerdsNerds” and then Simon tucks a napkin in his shirt collar, runs his fork along the blade of his knife and settles in to a huge meal of his own words, after of course he removes the foot from his mouth.
I don’t actually think these people are ugly. Infact, most of them are cute and sweet and clearly, dearly loved. I wish we didn’t need to convince people that talent has no limits. We all have a talent, not just the sexy people, so get on out there and dance I say, dance.. I want you to push it bad and by “it” I mean the boundaries of the public’s expectation of you.
